The Positive Speakers' Bureau (PSB) was launched by People Living With HIV/AIDS New South Wales on World Aids Day, December 1, 1994. The project provides schools, professional and community groups the opportunity to hear first hand the experiences of people with HIV through real life presentations.
Our aim is to encourage understanding, dispel myths about people with HIV and counter ignorance, fear and discrimination, by representing ourselves as we are. Our speakers are a diverse group of people with HIV who have been trained in presentation skills. By inviting the audience into their personal stories, these presentations "humanise" HIV. This encourages a deeper understanding of people living with the disease. In so doing, prevention messages are powerfully reinforced.
